Considerable cloudiness. That "It's Pat" gets such low ratings is a classic example of humour-challenged viewers misunderstanding classic broad farce and absurdity.
It is silly humor mixed with dementedness.

And since I love Kids In The Hall, the appearance of David Foley in "It's Pat" is a bonus.

I mean, when did we last see a film that dealt solely with what the sex of its protagonist was.
Why? "It's Pat" does the trick. I wish that the movie had been advertised more when it came out so I could have seen it in the theater. And, more importantly, when did we last see a film that never revealed this secret? Pat gains fame from being on a TV show, and his new neighbor Kyle (Charles Rocket) also falls in love with Pat, and steals Pat's diary to find out what gender Pat really is. We listened. Sexless (meaning impossible to tell whether male or female) Pat (Julia Sweeney) wants to get married to another equally sexless person in this amazingly poor motion picture that was just a ploy by those morons at Saturday Night Live to make a few quick bucks.
Yes, it's one joke played out for extremely obvious laughs for the better part of 90 minutes.
