In commercial consulting, Davis has advised on capital planning and the macroeconomic outlook for a leading financial institution, developed new labor market indicators for a firm that matches employers and jobseekers, and served as an expert witness and consultant in more than thirty engagements. As of April 2020, Davis is ranked 33th by the Research Papers in Economics in terms of the number of citations in the last 10 years discounted by citation age. He is a co-creator of the Economic Policy Uncertainty Indices, and he co-organizes the Asian Monetary Policy Forum, held annually in Singapore.
