Azure Dreams

The boy's father was an adventurous monster hunter who disappeared in the Tower of Monstrosity when the boy was a young infant. Along the way, you can interact with town locals, love interests and monster pets, which you can raise to learn special abilities. Azure Dreams is set in the desert town of Monsbaiya. She’s a performer struggling to become a dancer.A sickly girl who spends much of her time inside and is rather clingy. She’ll also wake you up in the morning if you haven’t wooed any girls.A talking monster you meet right before entering the Tower, he’ll become your first familiar. For example, in the tower, each level is randomly generated, making for a new and different experience every time you play (similar to the Mysterious Dungeon series in Japan). On your 15th birthday, you must venture into the tower to help your village and to woo a love interest who's being courted by another.Each time you enter the tower, your experience, hit points, and attack and defense levels reboot to the minimum, foreing you to level," or kill enemies repeatedly to attain status. The cute, repetitive jingle is surprisingly unobtrusive, though it fails to create tension. It's definitely a gamble, though: even if you need the money (it's more profitable to sell unhatched eggs than raise monsters), you might end up selling the unhatched egg of a strong creature who could've helped you later in battle. If you do bring them home, you can then sell the egg for cash, or keep it, either to have a second familiar to build up, or to fuse it with another of your familiars. The floors inside the Tower itself are a bunch of rooms hanging in space connected by pathways, with different textures slapped on every few floors or so.

Azure Dreams for the PlayStation wasn’t exactly a hot seller, but Konami decided to port it to the Game Boy Color, possibly to cash-in on the Pokémon craze. The Tower and town music, while nothing terrible, is forgettable and will just be in the back of your head as you play.The Japanese and American games are pretty much identical outside of language.

At the edge of the town of Monsbaiya lies the colossal Monster Tower, a mysterious and ancient structure where monster hunters go to prove themselves against the creatures within.
