As the Director of the Extension program, I get to encounter instructors, students, and musicians from all over the world coming together at the Ailey studios to share the universal language of dance. While these are difficult times for the dance community which relies on people gathering in spaces to share movement and create together, it feels important more now than ever to make dance accessible to everyone. The Ailey Extension offers “real classes for real people” (ages 16 and up). It has been very gratifying making Alvin’s joy of dance accessible to even more people.
